Constantia Muslims History

As indicated on the plaque at the Kramat in Summit Road, Constantia (the resting place of Sh Mahmood), Muslims were arguably the first community (Muslim or otherwise) to settle in Constantia. This could also suggests that the first ever Muslim settlement outside the Cape Town City Centre was at Constantia.

Watch this space as we try to get more information on how the displaced (by Group Areas) Constantia community evolved after Sh Mahmood (Summit Rd, Islam Hill), Sh Matabe Shah (Klein Constantia) and Sh Abdul Mutalib (Constantia Forest)

Our hope is that one young student interested in our Islamic heritage in South Africa would some day do an academic research that will throw more light on the history.
